The Agios Ioannis chapel during filming of the wedding scene for Mamma Mia! Most of the outdoor scenes were filmed on location at the small Greek island of Skopelos , in Thessaly (between August 29 and September 2007), [4] and the seaside hamlet of Damouchari in the Pelion area of Greece.
The picturesque towns of Skopelos and Glossa are great for a stroll while hiking paths in the center of the island lead to monasteries and chapels. Such a chapel is the most famous site in Skopelos today: the chapel of Saint John Kastri, also known as the Mamma Mia church, after shots of the famous Hollywood movie was filmed there.
